Federation of Post-Secondary Educators
The FSA is local 7 of the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of BC (FPSE), a province-wide umbrella organization of colleges and institutes. FPSE is governed by a Presidents’ Council composed of all local association presidents who act under the guidance of the Federation’s AGM.
The Federation assists us with bargaining, maintains a strike fund, provides expert and legal advice, facilitates the exchange of information between the local associations, and lobbies the provincial government on our behalf.

Standing Committee Reports
FPSE Standing Committees meet at least twice a year in Vancouver, normally in the fall and spring, and may also participate in the Spring Conference held every February. See the FPSE website for information about all standing committees, including terms of reference, members, projects, and meeting schedules.
FPSE AGM and Conference Reports
The AGM is held annually in the second week of May. The location varies within BC.
Through FPSE we are also affiliated with the BC Federation of Labour (BC Fed) and the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) through participation in the National Union of Canadian Association University Teachers (NUCAUT). The latter includes those unionized faculty associations participating in the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT).
Fraser Valley Labour Council
Our affiliation with the Fraser Valley Labour Council (FVLC) connects us to other unions in our immediate community.
The FVLC works to promote fairness and improve daily life for everyone in the community, through advocacy and education. The FVLC is made up of members from local unions and organizations affiliated with the Canadian Labour Congress. The FVLC executive member for the FSA is Jennifer Martel (2022-2024). The FSA is entitled to 13 delegates to the FVLC. Delegates are:
- David Thomson (2023-2025)
- Kulwant Gill (2023-2025)
- Lisa Morry (2023-2025)
